Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients: flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until no lumps remain.
- In another bowl, whisk the wet ingredients: buttermilk, milk, melted butter, and eggs until smooth and slightly frothy.
- Gently combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just mixed. The batter should be slightly lumpy.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- While baking, warm honey and melted butter together until combined and pourable.
- Once cooled, slice into squares and drizzle with the warm honey mixture before serving.
