Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil or a pat of butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until it becomes translucent and fragrant. Then, introduce the minced garlic, cooking for an additional minute.
- Add the fresh spinach to the skillet with the sautéed onions and garlic, cooking for 2-3 minutes until the spinach wilts down. Stir well to combine.
- In a mixing bowl, crack in the 4 large eggs and pour in 1 cup of milk. Whisk together until smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg if using.
- Carefully add the sautéed onion, garlic, and spinach mixture to the egg and milk blend, stirring gently to combine. Fold in your choice of shredded cheese.
- Lightly grease a pie dish or baking dish with olive oil or butter.
- Pour the egg and spinach mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes until set in the center and lightly golden on top.
- Once baked, remove the quiche from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
