Step-by-Step Instructions for Battered Sausage
  1. Start by removing the 4 large sausages from their packaging. Use a fork to prick each sausage a few times, which helps prevent bursting during cooking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of black pepper. Gradually pour in 1 cup of cold sparkling water while whisking until the batter is smooth.
  3. In a deep frying pan or pot, pour in enough vegetable oil and heat to about 350°F (175°C). Test the readiness by dropping a small amount of batter into it.
  4. Carefully dip each pricked sausage into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated, and allow excess batter to drip off.
  5. Gently place the battered sausages into the hot oil, frying them in batches for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Once they are golden and crispy, carefully remove the battered sausages from the oil using a slotted spoon. Let them drain on paper towels.
